They're using Byfuglien the way they should, at W even strength and on D on the PP.
Team USA will regret once again leaving Byfuglien off the team. Should've taken him and put him at RW where he is a huge difference maker, especially when surrounded by skill players. |

That would be fascinating to see him with Olympic calibre support. I have to wonder if the team is going to take a hard look over next 3 weeks. |

I have wondered the same thing. Not that I hate Kane or want to see him gone, but he hasn't played a game during this 9-2 run and it doesn't seem like they miss him. Probably too early to call him "expendable" but it's gotta make ppl think. |

I'm more encouraged by the way they are playing then the results. Much better with and without the puck lately. They are still giving up lots of shots but as we have discussed before it is the quality of scoring chance that has been limited. Pavs is making the saves he needs to because he isn't being hung out to dry every night.
You're right they can't possibly keep this pace up. I'm impressed with Maurice doing what he can to keep reminding the players and the fans that there is a long way to go and lots to learn before this winning thing becomes a regular habit.
I'm not expecting a cup any time soon but I will be happy with consistent improvement year over year and I am more convinced they are on track for that than I was a month ago! |

Do statistics go the other way? Could we also say Setoguchi is not this bad and it is just a matter of time before he gets hot? |

Have you been watching?? Kane played in 4 of the games (ANA, LA, TOR & CHI) and had 4 pts and the GWG in ANA. Not sure how you can figure the team doesn't miss one of their best offensive players....they are winning games, but I am pretty sure he could of had an impact in all the games but especially the NSH game they lost. He is our future and to even mention the word "expendable" in the same sentence as Kane is pretty crazy in my opinion!! |

After watching these late season swoons up close and in person, I will step out on the plank and say that, this time, it feels different. The team is playing more cohesively, even in the losses, than before. The goalies know what to expect, most of the time, anyways.
Maurice is bringing something that no other coach has, before him. I don't know exactly what that is, and I'm not predicting anything other than steady, improved play.
Being a glass half full guy, I see good things for this team...let the flaming begin........ |

I 100% agree. I was shocked when they signed him to a 1 year deal last summer. What does that mean? he will probably end up in the AHL somewhere next year. |

As would I Peter. I think its fair to point out that the team has been playing about their 'talent' level but I do think that PM as coach moves the team up a notch. A good coach makes all of the difference. Look at what Roy has managed to do in Colorado; the team had missed the playoffs with horrible records for numerous years only to turn it around and make a statement to the rest of the nhl. Can PM get us into the playoffs? I'm with you on this one, I see the olympic break killing all momentum and us in 9th or 10th to finish the year. of course I'd be happy to see us squeak in and play st louis, we might have a chance there... with monty in net |

Also, not sure how a team with the most double digit scorers in league is accused of being short on talent. I think the Jets are actually playing a bit better than they should, not massively overachieving. They were however massively UNDERachieving with Noel. |

You totally right, forgot about those 4 games (and I did watch all 4) Total brain fart. upon re-reading my previous post and how wrote it, I can see why you think I'm saying I personally feel Kane is expendable (a bad word choice, I admit) That's not entirely accurate. Let me try again at what I was originally trying to say..
There are very very few players on the jets that I would call untouchable. I love a lot of the players, but if the right deal came along I would drive em to the airport. This is because I'm a bigger fan of the team than the players. I've watched cloutier blog about the oilers "untouchable" list for so long an it drove me bonkers. Weather it's the oilers or jets, I believe sometimes a team has to trade a better player for a package that will make them a better team.
Again, I didn't mean to give the impression that I'm trying to pack Kanes bags. However, I was merely curious to get people's perceptions of him after the team has gone 6-1 without him over this winning streak. I agree we are missing the extra offence, I just personally don't care how we get it. I would trade anybody if it made the team better.
Hopefully that cleared it up. |

The jets are a boarderline playoff team, even with Kane. Like this blog says, we arn't as good as the last 11 games make us out to be. Winnipeg isn't attracting a ton of free agents and our team lacks real depth. If we are looking to get better and deeper, I think a trade is our most feasible way. Kane would probably be number 4 or 5 (players that will actually get you a return) on my list of players to trade even tho I think he gets you the most back. If the RIGHT deal was offered for Kane, I would move him, an the same can be said for any player not on a entry level deal.
If just don't believe Kane is untouchable. I wanted to see if anybody had reconsidered the possibility of trading Kane given success the team was currently having without him on the ice. |
